Wishing and Wanting,

Of Poseidon by Anna Banks
Publisher: Feiwel & Friends (May 22, 2012)

Of Poseidon

Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he’s heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen—literally, ouch!—both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma’s gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom . . .

Told from both Emma and Galen’s points of view, here is a fish-out-of-water story that sparkles with intrigue, humor, and waves of romance.

It's a Sacrifice, But Someone Has to L♥ve What They Read

Sacrificial Magic
READING, WRITING, AND RAISING THE DEAD

When Chess Putnam is ordered by an infamous crime boss—who also happens to be her drug dealer—to use her powers as a witch to solve a grisly murder involving dark magic, she knows she must rise to the challenge. Adding to the intensity: Chess’s boyfriend, Terrible, doesn’t trust her, and Lex, the son of a rival crime lord, is trying to reignite the sparks between him and Chess.

Plus there’s the little matter of Chess’s real job as a ghost hunter for the Church of Real Truth, investigating reports of a haunting at a school in the heart of Downside. Someone seems to be taking a crash course in summoning the dead—and if Chess doesn’t watch her back, she may soon be joining their ranks.

As Chess is drawn into a shadowy world of twisted secrets and dark violence, it soon becomes clear that she’s not going to emerge from its depths without making the ultimate sacrifice.

Yes this is a book blog, but I have a feeling that this will be my new favorite movie. What do you think? Is it a movie worthy of a midnight showing?

A Royal Wish

Royal Street by Suzanne Johnson
Publisher: Doherty, Tom Associates, LLC
Publication date: 4/10/2012

Royal Street

As the junior wizard sentinel for New Orleans, Drusilla Jaco’s job involves a lot more potion-mixing and pixie-retrieval than sniffing out supernatural bad guys like rogue vampires and lethal were-creatures. DJ's boss and mentor, Gerald St. Simon, is the wizard tasked with protecting the city from anyone or anything that might slip over from the preternatural beyond.

Then Hurricane Katrina hammers New Orleans’ fragile levees, unleashing more than just dangerous flood waters.

While winds howled and Lake Pontchartrain surged, the borders between the modern city and the Otherworld crumbled. Now, the undead and the restless are roaming the Big Easy, and a serial killer with ties to voodoo is murdering the soldiers sent to help the city recover.

To make it worse, Gerry has gone missing, the wizards’ Elders have assigned a grenade-toting assassin as DJ’s new partner, and undead pirate Jean Lafitte wants to make her walk his plank. The search for Gerry and for the serial killer turns personal when DJ learns the hard way that loyalty requires sacrifice, allies come from the unlikeliest places, and duty mixed with love creates one bitter gumbo.

B.O.B - Bug Out Books - The Top Ten Books I Would Grab In Disaster Times

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week's question is what books would you grab if your house were on fire. I have a different take on this weeks question and would love to hear your thoughts on your B.O.B. (Bug Out Book)

I have two books with sentimental value. Number one on the list is my autographed ARC of Nightshade by Andrea Cremer. I won it on a blog in April before it was released.  It was my first ARC and ignited a new passion in my life, this blog. Plus, it has been one of my favorite books. If I had to grab one book before bolting out of my home that would be it.

Nightshade (Nightshade Series #1)

The second book would by The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting. Again it has sentimental value.

The Body Finder (Body Finder Series #1)

Several years ago my cousin was at the heart of some Tornado's in the south. For three days she had to hunker down at home without electricity with her young family. For three days they read Harry Potter books by flashlight. It helped pass time and took the kids mind off the howling wind and pounding rain.

For me reading is an escape from reality. I can forget my cares, problems and responsibility when I am lost in a book and for that reason I have books packed in my bug out bags (72 hour emergency bags). I imagine that if I had to deal with the stress of natural disaster the stories would be a comfort to me and my family. This is also the reason I have a hard time jumping on the ereader wagon. I want to be able to read a good book when I have no access to electricity.

Here are a couple of books I have packed in my kits:

The big no brainer is Harry Potter. Its magic, its perfect for old and young. Harry Potter is comfort reading for me.

Harry Potter Paperback Boxed Set (Books 1-7)

I thought about having Hunger Games but it might hit too close to home if the cause of said disaster is because of war or government issues. Although, it may serve as survival inspiration too.

The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxed Set

Peter and the Starcatchers. Peter Pan is one of the best stories and Dave Barry/Ridley Person's take on a classic story is a fun adventure.

Peter and the Starcatchers (Starcatchers Series #1)

In my personal bag I would have The Iron Druid Chronicls and Mercy Thompson series.

Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles Series #1) Hammered (Iron Druid Chronicles Series #3) Hexed (Iron Druid Chronicles Series #2)

Moon Called (Mercy Thompson Series #1) Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson Series #2) Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson Series #3)
Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson Series #4) Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson Series #5) River Marked (Mercy Thompson Series #6)

What about YOU? What is YOUR Bug Out Book?

Cover Reveal - INBETWEEN (Kissed by Death, #1) by Tara Fuller

Since the car crash that took her father’s life three years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky—and unending—lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.

It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn't let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left…his soul.

I love how clean this cover is! I don't know about you but I can't wait to read it - a new twist on forbidden love. What do YOU think?

Paperback Available for Pre-Order from Amazon.

Inbetween will be released from Entangled Publishing on August 7, 2012.

L♥ving What I'm Reading - I'm An Outcast Lover

I have an aversion to reading the last book in a series. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I have yet to read Last Sacrifice, Forever and Bloodrose. Yes I know they are some of my fave series but so many times I don't love the last book in the series.

But Rachel Caine, holey moley - she has written a good one with the last book in the Outcast series. It's one I have carried with me and read a few pages before I run into the grocery store, wait at the dentist and stay up all night to read. Hopefully I will get it finished tonight!

Unbroken (Outcast Season Series #4)

For millennia, Cassiel was a powerful Djinn-until she was exiled to live among mortals. Now the threat of an apocalypse looms, and Cassiel is in danger of losing everything she has come to hold dear...

As the world begins to fall apart around her, Cassiel finds herself fighting those she once called her own-the Djinn. With Weather Warden Luis Rocha and the rescued child Ibby by her side, Cassiel struggles to find a way to protect those that are in her charge and come to terms with the leadership role she never asked for.

Cassiel is opposed by a powerful Djinn bent on raising an army of kidnapped Warden children to bring about nothing less than the end of the world. It will take everything Cassiel has to stop the Djinn from starting a war that will wipe all of humanity from the face of the earth. She knows that this might not be a battle she can survive, but protecting those she loves is worth any cost...

Be Still My Broken Heart - Top Ten Heart Breakers

Top Ten Books That Broke Your Heart A Little

a meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish

Immediately my thoughts go to Blood Promise in The Vampire Academy series. I felt like I needed Prozac after finishing it because it is the most painful book I have read. Thankfully I went straight into the next book to bust out of that depressive literary slump.

Blood Promise (Vampire Academy Series #4)

Mockingjay didn't break my heart a little, it broke a lot!! I curled up into the fetal position and cried for Katniss, Prim, Rue and Peeta.

Mockingjay (Hunger Games Series #3)

Silver Borne in the Mercy Thompson series was my least favorite - favorite book I have read, if that makes any sense. It was painful to see Mercy literally broke.

Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson Series #5)

Anything written by the amazing Nicholas Sparks has made me sob like my dog died. Oh man, Dear John,  A Walk to Remember and The Notebook. The NOTEBOOK - need I say more? We all dream of a love like Noah and Allie's.

A Walk to Remember  Dear John  The Notebook

Kevin Hearne proves he can write a rainbow of emotions in Hammered, the third Iron Druid book. Atticus and gang made me laugh, cry and curse.

Hammered (Iron Druid Chronicles Series #3)

Goodbye Dumbldore. :-(

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter #6)

I read if I stay in one day. My eyes were swollen and puffy for two days after.

I am at a loss for one more book that broke my heart a little - any suggestions?

 ♥ Happy Valentines Day! ♥

Only Griffin King sees the magical darkness inside her that says she's special, says she's one of them. The orphaned duke takes her in from the gaslit streets against the wishes of his band of misfits: Emily, who has her own special abilities and an unrequited love for Sam, who is part robot; and Jasper, an American cowboy with a shadowy secret.
Griffin's investigating a criminal called The Machinist, the mastermind behind several recent crimes by automatons. Finley thinks she can help—and finally be a part of something, finally fit in.
But The Machinist wants to tear Griff's little company of strays apart, and it isn't long before trust is tested on all sides. At least Finley knows whose side she's on—even if it seems no one believes her.

February 18 @ 2:00  PM Shannon Hale: Orem Barnes and Noble

Midnight in AustenlandAuthor Shannon Hale will be signing for her new release  Midnight in Austenland.

When Charlotte Kinder treats herself to a two-week vacation at Austenland, she happily leaves behind her ex-husband and his delightful new wife, her ever-grateful children, and all the rest of her real life in America. She dons a bonnet and stays at a country manor house that provides an immersive Austen experience, complete with gentleman actors who cater to the guests' Austen fantasies.
Everyone at Pembrook Park is playing a role, but increasingly, Charlotte isn't sure where roles end and reality begins. And as the parlor games turn a little bit menacing, she finds she needs more than a good corset to keep herself safe. Is the brooding Mr. Mallery as sinister as he seems? What is Miss Gardenside's mysterious ailment? Was that an actual dead body in the secret attic room? And-perhaps of the most lasting importance-could the stirrings in Charlotte's heart be a sign of real-life love?
The follow-up to reader favorite Austenland provides the same perfectly plotted pleasures, with a feisty new heroine, plenty of fresh and frightening twists, and the possibility of a romance that might just go beyond the proper bounds of Austen's world. How could it not turn out right in the end?
