We interupt this post part 2
Well I finished Iron Crowned and once again Richelle Mead has me captivated. I believe it is the mark of a good author to be able to make me feel such raw emotion while reading their book. And Richelle has never let me down. If you haven't started the Dark Swan series yet, start it, if you are a paranormal fan you will not be disappointed. Official review will be posted in a.m. For now I will be partaking of The Vampire Diaries........

We interrupt the scheduled post because
I am very mad at Eugenie Markham.
Is it ridiculous that she has put me in a sulky mood? It’s just a book for crying out loud! Am I the only insane person whose mood can be changed by a character in a book?
It's taking me forever to read Iron Crowned because I keep putting the book in a time out. Then I can't stand wondering what happens and I read it until I need to put the book in another time out.
I swear, reading is my drug.
It's a good thing I have read all those parenting books: I use the "Reading With Love and Logic" approach. ;)

The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff
(Publishing info, blurb and photo are from barnesandnoble.com)
Publisher: Penguin Young Readers Group
Age Range: Young Adult
Lexile: HL750L What’s This?
ISBN-13: 9781595143372
ISBN: 1595143378
Synopsis
Mackie Doyle is not one of us. Though he lives in the small town of Gentry, he comes from a world of tunnels and black murky water, a world of living dead girls ruled by a little tattooed princess. He is a Replacement—left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. Now, because of fatal allergies to iron, blood, and consecrated ground, Mackie is fighting to survive in the human world.
Mackie would give anything to live among us, to practice on his bass or spend time with his crush, Tate. But when Tate's baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably into the underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem. He must face the dark creatures of the Slag Heaps and find his rightful place, in our world, or theirs.
My Thoughts:
Pg 40 “The simple truth is that you can understand a town, you can know and love and hate it. You can blame it, resent it and nothing changes. In the end you’re just another part of it.”
Being from a small town myself, I found this line from The Replacement incredibly accurate, haunting and ensnaring. The book cover is a little freaky and beautiful all at the same time. The mixed emotions I had before reading the book carried through the story for me. The Replacement isn’t really something I think I would read but I found that I really enjoyed it.
Throughout the story Mackie learns about the miracle of love and how it can make things and people beautiful. There were many underlying principles in this story that made me think about life a little bit. One of my favorite lines is Dumbledore worthy on page 119 “Intention is one of the most powerful forces there is. What you mean when you do a thing will always determine the outcome.”
Brenna Yovanoff’s descriptions of scent and the society of Mayhem made me wrinkle my nose many times. While reading The Replacement I had to get up and check all the locks on my windows, in my world, that’s the worst kind of scary. On a side note, I really think The Replacement would make an awesome movie.
Buy? Yes. It did scare me a little and I would recommend parental discretion. It is marketed for young adults but may prove a little scary for some (younger) teens. There are many F – bombs dropped throughout the book and some kissing.
Overall, I would have liked this book when I was a teen and think that most teens would feel the same way.

Book Quirks
It’s a safety hazard to have as many books in my TBR pile as I have in mine. One little tremor earthquake and it will tumble and crush us all.
Ok, it really won’t but it feels like it. In reality, the pile is mentally squishing my determination to get through it. The tower of books that haunts me has me rethinking my reading habits.
1) One of my pet peeves is waking up because a light was turned on even if it is just my spouse’s bedside lamp to read. Ironically, it bothers him when I do the same thing. The solution was one of these handy dandy headlamps. It keeps the peace in our marriage and honestly, makes the spooky novels a little more exciting. Like walking in the dark and not knowing who or what is watching you.
3) One of my biggest quirks is that I sleep with my headlamp and book under my pillow. That way I don’t have to fumble to find it when I wake up in the middle of the night and want to read. Maybe its time I invest in a nightstand? Nah, my method works just fine for me and makes falling asleep while reading in bed a little more convenient.
4) I dislike when books are “dog eared”. How do you remember witch dog ear is yours when the library book that has 1/3 of all the pages dog-eared? If you don’t have a book mark use a gas receipt for Pete's sake! LOL. Really the dog ear thing doesn’t bother me so much, but it does bother me that people abuse library books. (It is a privilege to have access to a library)
5) I don’t like to read my hardback books with the book jackets on. I like the book jacket to look new and shiny when I put the book on my shelf.
6) I usually read one book at a time but lately find that I am reading four books at once. I can’t decide if this is working for me or not. When I do read multiple books at a time it feels like FOREVER before I can finish one book. Thus the overwhelming feeling that my TBR pile will defeat me.
What about you? What are your reading preferences and habits? Do you ever feel like the looming tower of TBR books will fall and crumble you? Do you have book pet peeves? How many books do you read at a time?
